iSIMS is designed to be a fully scalable, flexible solution for the everyday identity management requirements of today's world. The system takes advantage of smart card and biometric technologies to ensure an organization is can effectively authenticate and manage its population. Each iSIMS solution is custom fit to meet the individual customer’s security needs through organization-wide identity management.
iSIMS was developed as a credentialing initiative in response to the increasing need for identity security solutions that go beyond military and government agencies. DSA’s initial iSIMS implementation is being deployed in a school environment. In this deployment iSIMS is being used as the primary identity management system for teachers, staff, volunteers, students, parents, and guardians. The iSIMS card is used to both authenticate its owner's identity as well as store data about the card holder. Data that can be carried on the card includes contact information, medical information & alerts, and other important information needed in a crisis.
