SNIM

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) Software, Networks, Information, Modeling and Simulation (SNIM) IDIQ consolidates the customer-funded efforts of three of the DOD’s Information Analysis Centers, which are under the direction of DTIC. The contract combines technical area tasks previously performed under the Data and Analysis Center for Software, the Information Assurance Technology Analysis Center and the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center.

The mission of the SNIM contract is to provide RDT&E and R&D Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) for the vital technical areas outlined below.

SNIM Objectives

  • To support the use and application of SNIM related information technology (IT) in the design, development, testing, and evaluation of DoD systems, military systems and military infrastructure operated by the United States, allied and friendly nations, and the industrial and research base and other authorized organizations or groups which produce and support such systems;

  • To conduct and/or support a wide range of SNIM related studies, evaluations, and analysis of IT and methods;

  • To promote standardization within the field of SNIM related IT in the DoD environment.

Breadth of Support:

  • Basic and applied RDT&E activities carried out by DoD components, other U.S. Government agencies and departments and their contractors, state and local governments, as well as international organizations in which the U.S. Government is a member or participant;

  • Military or similarly related operations conducted by DoD components and other U.S. Government agencies and departments or international organizations to which the United States belongs or foreign governments with which the United States has international agreements for military or related operations;

  • Development of doctrine, tactics or plans by DoD components, other Government Agencies and Departments, and foreign military organizations that the Department of Defense provides military assistance and sales;

  • Basic and applied research carried out by industry, academia, and other institutions where the results of such research are expected to provide benefits to the U.S. Government in the future.

With a maximum value of $2 billion over the next 5 years, SNIM serves as an efficient contracting vehicle to quickly get information assurance, software data and analysis, modeling and simulation, knowledge management and information sharing services into the hands of DoD components, other Government agencies, industry and academia. This contract spans 5 years (1 base year plus 4 one-year options) (05/24/2010 through 05/23/2015).
