The Coalition for the Prevention of Economic Crime Elects Chairman DSA Executive Named to Lead Organization
Fairfax, VA – June 24, 2002 – Doug Wagoner, vice president and general manager, Data Systems Analysts (DSA), has been elected Chairman of the Coalition for the Prevention of Economic Crime (CPEC). His appointment exemplifies the Coalition’s decision to bring broad private industry experience and global fraud prevention knowledge to work on economic crime problem solving. Increasingly, businesses are faced with fraud challenges rising from the explosion of the Internet and the need to address issues of intellectual property (IP).
A non-profit organization established in 1996, the Coalition’s objective is to raise the awareness of economic crime and its impact on business. CPEC provides support and education services to business in their increasing fight against economic crimes, helping them to interact with law enforcement regulatory agencies. Board members are senior executives who lend their expertise in a variety of key areas, including marketing, technology, operations, the Internet, and finance. All appointees are fraud-prevention experts and have a strong interest in how economic crime impacts businesses.
Wagoner brings broad private industry experience and global fraud prevention knowledge to CPEC leadership from his many years of providing IT solutions to the public sector, identifying, investigating and prosecuting economic crime.
“The tragic events of September 11th could not have been perpetrated without prior, broad-reaching economic crimes to finance the terrorism,” states Wagoner. “The terrorism imposed that day was designed to have an impact on our freedoms, including our economic freedom. My goal is to improve the great work of the CPEC by continuing to educate the private sector to help us all protect our freedom.”
Prior to becoming Chairman, Wagoner served on the board of directors of CPEC. Currently, he serves on the boards of E-Government and the Federal e-Government Coalition. He is a member of the ITAA Homeland Defense Committee and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. His experience and technological know-how aimed at mission-critical applications will help provide perspective for the CPEC leading to solutions in crime prevention for the future.
“We are very pleased Doug has accepted the leadership of CPEC at such a critical time. He already has immersed himself in the job, increasing the scope and reach of CPEC,” says Executive Director, Allan Trosclair.
