Randy J. (“RJ”) Kolton serves as DSA’s Senior Vice President of Business Development. In his role, RJ is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing DSA growth strategies and business development (BD) operations. He manages the DSA BD staff and focuses on sustaining and expanding current business services, identifying new market segments for growth, and developing new products and services. 

Most recently, RJ was Senior Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development for Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I-3), a mid-sized, privately-held professional services firm that offers technology development, consulting and program management services. In that role, he planned, implemented, and supported I-3’s growth strategies. Prior to joining I-3, RJ was Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development for L-3 Communications Services Group (LSG) and concurrently Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development, for MPRI, which was acquired by L-3 in 2000. While at LSG, RJ managed business development of the Group’s five divisions, which achieved sales growth from $3.4B in 2005 to $4.3B in 2010. At MPRI, RJ served as one of the key senior leaders responsible for increasing revenue from $47M to $1.2B in eleven years.

A retired US Army lieutenant colonel, RJ served for over 22 years as an infantryman and military strategist in various command and staff positions in the White House, US Central Command, Department of the Army, and the 82d Airborne and 3d Infantry Divisions. During 1997-1998, he served as Special Assistant, Strategy in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. He also was Special Assistant and Speechwriter to the Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, 1993-1994, and Special Assistant for Strategic Initiatives to the Unified Commander, U.S. Central Command, 1994-1997. RJ served as the G-5 (Political-Military Officer) for the 82d Airborne Division during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, 1990-1991. During 1985-1988, he was an Assistant Professor of History at the U.S. Military Academy. RJ’s military awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, four Army Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, and Expert Infantryman Badge. 

RJ received a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York; a Master of Arts, History from the University of Texas, Austin, Texas; and a Master of Military Art and Science, Strategy from the School of Advance Military Studies, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
