DSA Awarded $3.5m Multi-Year Task Order From Air Force Communications Agency
DSA to Support AFCA’s Enterprise Migration Strategies Team
FAIRFAX, Va., November 27, 2006 - Data Systems Analysts, Inc. (DSA), a recognized leader in the provision of information technology support to government and industry, today announced the award of a $3.5M multi-year task order from the Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA) under the Air Force Network-Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) Award Schedule.
The purpose of the Air Force NETCENTS contract is to provide Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal Agencies a primary source of networking equipment/product supply and a means of system engineering, installation, integration, operations, and maintenance for a family of DoD-adopted, commercially standardized networking solutions that are interoperable with Air Force, Joint, and DoD Standardized Networking Technical Architectures.
“This is a significant award for DSA,” stated Frances R. Pierce, DSA President and CEO. “DSA understands the significance of this program to the Air Force, and we are very proud to have been selected to support AFCA’s Enterprise Migration Strategies Team.”
DSA will initiate programmatic and technical support to the AFCA Enterprise Migration Strategies Branch (ECSS) as a subcontractor to Multimax of Herndon, Virginia, an enterprise IT and communications services firm. DSA will be responsible for assisting AFCA in forming and capturing the concepts necessary to create an Air Force net-centric environment, updating Global Combat Support System (GCSS) documents and specifications, and assisting in migrating functional applications to the Global Combat Support System (GCSS) AF Framework.
The GCSS Combatant Commanders/ Joint Task Force (CC/JTF) was developed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to respond to the operational concept of Focused Logistics articulated in Joint Vision 2010, subsequently reinforced in Joint Vision 2020. Focused logistics is the fusion of logistics information and transportation technologies for rapid crisis response, deployment and sustainment, the ability to track and shift units, equipment and supplies, and the delivery of tailored logistical packages directly to the Warfighter.
In addition, DSA will lead efforts for the GCSS-AF Functional Requirements Review Integrated Process Team (IPT), to include conducting requirements data collections, consolidating data, data requirements analysis, review and development of specifications and working action items.
AFCA was chosen to be the Lead Command for GCSS-AF, which provides an integral and interoperable family-of-systems standard approach for systems development operations and maintenance, throughout the Air Force. It provides combat support users with a single logon access via the AF Portal, linkage to integrated cross-functional combat support information in near real time, enterprise security solutions, the ability to leverage software components for economy and rapid development, decision tools, and an open standards common architecture approach. GCSS-AF and the AF Portal will be leveraged to implement many enterprise service capabilities.
