DSA Names Former US State Department CIO to Company’s Federal Advisory Board

Trevose , PA. , June 10, 2005 – Frances R. Pierce, President and CEO, Data Systems Analysts (DSA) announced the selection of Bruce Morrison, the former Chief Information Officer of the United States Department of State, to the company’s Federal Advisory Board of Directors.

Morrison served as CIO for the Department of State from December 2002 to February 2005. In that capacity, he was an ex-officio member of the Chief Information Officers’ and Intelligence Community Chief Information Officers’ Councils. He had been Deputy Chief Information Officer for Operations at State from 2001 to 2002, and Dean of the School for Information Technology at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute from 1997 to 2001. During his 28-year career as a commissioned foreign service officer, Morrison held a succession of information management positions at the Department of State.

“We are pleased to welcome Bruce Morrison as a member of DSA’s Federal Advisory Board,” said Pierce. “He brings valuable knowledge, skills and a special perspective to the information technology and security requirements of our country’s national defense and diplomacy environments, both areas of focus for DSA.”

Morrison joined the Foreign Service in 1976 and spent much of his career in U.S. embassies around the world, including those in Tokyo, Belgrade and Prague.

He received the State Department Distinguished Honor Award from Secretary Colin Powell, the Presidential Meritorious Service Award from President George W. Bush, the Luther I. Replogle Award for Management Improvement, five senior officer performance pay bonuses and two Superior Honor Awards.

Morrison graduated from Hunter College and earned his Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.

DSA established the Federal Advisory Board (FAB) in 2004 to capitalize on its rapid growth in the Civilian, Defense and Intelligence marketplaces. Its purpose is to assist DSA, an employee-owned company, in reviewing its strategic business plan and provide guidance on how DSA can better deliver technology solutions in the public sector.

Other members of DSA’s FAB include David Borland, former Deputy to the Army’s Chief Information Officer (CIO/G6); Edward A. Hart, former Deputy Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and current president, Hart Enterprises, LLC; and, Tom L. Hewitt, founder, Federal Sources, Inc.
