U.S. Army Tactical Message System (TMS) Contract Awarded
DSA Partners with General Dynamics Communications Systems to Win Award
Fairfax, VA, August 30, 2000 – DATA SYSTEMS ANALYSTS, INC.(DSA), an information technology solutions firm,has been selected by prime contractor General Dynamics Communications Systems (GDCS) to provide engineering services for the recently awarded Tactical Message System (TMS). The Army’s TMS, considered a significant step in the development hierarchy of the Defense Message System (DMS), will enable DMS to be taken to the battlefield in a modular transit case design. Data Systems Analysts, Inc. was chosen to partner with GDCS because of the company’s expertise and long-term experience with DMS. Data Systems Analysts, Inc. will provide the engineering know-how to integrate DMS software to TMS and provide the requisite training program for users. DSA, Inc. will operate a test bed in Fairfax, VA to develop the software integration and conduct testing. The company also will develop a TMS operator/maintainer course and conduct the training.
The U.S. Army Program Executive Office – Standard Army Management Information Systems and PM-DMS awarded the Tactical Message System contract to GDCS on July 13, 2000. This initial award is valued at nearly $11 million and calls for the delivery of 21 sets of equipment, spares, warranty, and training. Through three option years and other considerations, the contract is potentially worth more than $77 million.
DSA, Inc.’s share of the contract is initially valued at approximately $1 million with future potential not yet determined. A system demonstration is scheduled for mid-September and training classes should begin in less than six months.
