DSA Selected For Amazon Surveillance Project
Raytheon Awards DSA Role in SIVAM
PENNSAUKEN, NJ, April 3, 2000 - The most modern environmental surveillance system in the world is underway. Data Systems Analysts, Inc. (DSA), an information technology solutions company specializing in communications and network systems, has been selected by Raytheon Company to provide messaging servers for installation in Brazil as part of the System for the Vigilance of the Amazon (SIVAM). The Government of Brazil awarded the contract for SIVAM to Raytheon Company of Bedford, MA in 1997. SIVAM’s network of ground-based and airborne radars; environmental monitors; optical, infrared and satellite-based sensors; and weather radars and stations will be at the core of the surveillance system.

The new system enhances Brazil’s ability to exercise greater control over the Amazon, with the country as a whole benefiting from the new technology.
According to the DSA Project Manager for the design and installation of the electronic mail servers, "DSA’s role in this extraordinary project is to provide a network of e-mail servers that will link over 2000 users spread across the region."
Most of the design work will be completed in DSA’s development and testing laboratory located at company headquarters in Pennsauken, NJ. DSA will begin delivering equipment to Raytheon in mid 2000, with installation spread over two years.
