Plain Language Address Distribution System (PLADS)
ISSUE
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) needed a transition and synchronization tool to assist users in their transition to and use of the Defense Message System (DMS) by associating and synchronizing Plain Language Addresses to the DMS Directory Distinguished User Name. In addition to synchronizing the addressing databases the users need to have access to related information on the DMS Asset Distribution System (DADS).
SOLUTION
DSA designed, developed, and continues to maintain the Plain Language Address Distribution System (PLADS)
-
Serves as a system of synchronization with a connection to the Department of Defense communications network between DMS and Legacy.
-
Provides a snapshot of both systems (Legacy and DMS), daily, compares them, and passes changes to each other.
-
Changes are also passed to other users and systems via the DMS Asset Distribution System (DADS).
RESULT
The PLADS provides daily updates for over 65,000 users DMS directory information based on the CDC database and uploads report files to the DADS.
-
Legacy Address List Reports, which syncs the Addresses and Collectives in the Central Directory Component (CDC), for the Message Conversion System (MCS).
-
Supports the processing of over 30,000 messages a month
-
General Service (Genser) Data for the Communications Support Processor (CSP), that provides the routing information for DMS and Legacy for the CSP.
-
Legacy to DMS Routing Issues reports that help identify and solve routing problems.
-
Files to the MCS for routing from Legacy to DMS.
-
Files to update the Master Plain Language Address (PLA) Directory System Agent (DSA).
