Allbritton Communications Company
ISSUE
Case 1: Allbritton Communications, operator of television stations in 6 states and the District of Columbia, needed to upgrade their internal network infrastructure and securely link together their 10 ABC-TV stations’ financial and accounting systems.
Case 2: The State of Pennsylvania was disposing of legacy hardware via public auctions. It was unclear what process the state was using to destroy any existing data on the harddrives of the pc’s being sold.
SOLUTION
Case 1: Financial Wide Area Network (WAN)

Designed and installed financial/accounting servers at each of Allbritton’s stations.

DSA provided full support through multiple infrastructure upgrades

Migrated the stations LAN’s to a corporate wide WAN utilizing VPN technology across various communication technologies (cable, DSL, T1, etc.)
Case 2: Upon WHTM-TV’s request, DSA provided forensic assistance

Examined surplus personal computers purchased from the state and discovered a breakdown in Pennsylvania state government security policies and procedures

Found hundreds of documents still residing on the computers that included personal information such as addresses, social security numbers and memos
RESULT
Case 1: Using the WAN, Allbritton is able to securely update corporate financials in near real-time and with minimal effort.
Case 2: DSA’s forensic assistance prevented additional breaches of private information by initiating a review of the data cleansing processes used by the State of Pennsylvania.
