Tactical Messaging System
ISSUE
The Army needed a deployment solution for defense communications in the warfighting environment to ensure coordination of planning efforts, mission achievement, and resource direction during conflict.
SOLUTION
Tactical Messaging System (TMS)

Serves as a messaging hub with a direct connection to the Department of Defense communications network.
DSA provided the Army:

Minimized software options to only those necessary for operation, ensuring viability on the battlefield

Reduced the necessary number of typed commands by writing scripts, linking steps in the installation process together

Condensed media to be loaded on a TMS, allowing quick operation and availability in hostile environments.

Developed a one-week training module to teach individuals how to set up, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and pack-up the system under warfare conditions

Provided practical solutions for hands-on learning
RESULT

DSA streamlined the installation process from two weeks to two days, allowing communications to be transmitted sooner between the home base and the warfighter.

TMS was used in the fight against terrorism in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Warfighters have the knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain systems based on DSA’s training curriculum.
